Roseland is pleased to announce the introduction of a SAFE ZONE, creating a safe location to conduct sales transactions that originate on the Internet.
This location is in front of the Roseland Police Station and has a live video surveillance that is also recorded. The concept is to create a safe zone for individuals to complete a purchase that started on-line between two individuals.
Mayor John Duthie worked with our Police Chief Richard McDonough to bring this initiative to Roseland to enhance safety. Buyers and sellers can meet in a secure location instead of using their own home.
There is a sign at a parking spot in front of the police station. This is a safer way of conducting this type of transaction, but of course can not guarantee any individuals safety.

Mayor John Duthie and the Governing Body offer the following safety tips for the Nor’easter that is making its way to our area. Dangerous winds and heavy rain are predicated to begin this afternoon. The safest place to be during high winds is indoors.
- Check the area outside your home for unsecured objects such as tree limbs, garbage cans, yard debris as they can project towards your home or car and cause damage
- Anchor objects such as gas grills or propane tanks
- Close and secure patio umbrellas and furniture
- Bring loose objects indoors such as planters, garbage cans, garden tools, toys
- Avoid down power lines or anything that may be touching down power lines. To report a downed wire or power outages contact PSE&G 1-800-436-PSEG
- Charge cell phones, tablets and other battery powered devices
- Check your supply of flashlights, blankets, nonperishable food, bottled water
- If you are driving during high winds keep both hands on the wheel and slow down, watch for objects blowing across the roadway and keep a safe distance from cars in adjacent lanes
