The Public Works department handles maintenance and repair of borough roads and buildings, coordinates garbage and recycling schedules, and handles special pickup of branches, leaves, bulk and metal goods for the community.

Branch Collection
October 3rd , 2016 the Department of Public Works will begin the final branch collection for the 2016 calendar year.  Please have any branches or brush placed curbside for pick-up prior to that date.
Please keep in mind we do not accept logs, roots, vines, or ivy of any kind.

Paper Shredding Day-October 14, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
19 Harrison Avenue Tennis Court Parking Lot
An on-site mobile shredding truck capable of holding 10,000 lbs. of paper including staples, clips, binders & books (3” or less) will be available for residential (no commercial) shredding.  A close- circuited television screen allows you to watch your documents as they enter the shredder.  All shredded paper will be recycled


Residents are reminded that Roseland’s 2016 vegetative waste collection ran from April through October and has ended for this year. The Borough is now collecting leaves curbside on all Borough streets through December 5th after which residents may not place leaves in the curb area. Leaves in BROWN PAPER BAGS ONLY are collected every Wednesday through December 28th, no appointment necessary. PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE

2017  HYDRANT FLUSHING PROGRAM to begin May 1, 2017
Standard Garbage Pickup: Monday and Thursday
Standard Garbage Pickup: Tuesday and Friday
Garbage may be put at curbside after 7:00pm on the night prior to your regularly scheduled pickup day.
NOTIFICATIONS: Correction to the Garbage and Recycling Schedule: If a Holiday falls on a Friday, collection  will be on the Saturday immediately following the holiday not Monday as indicated on the schedule.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Roseland Department of Public Works is to maintain, repair, and wherever possible, improve the infrastructure of our community. This would include the municipal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, parks, trees, buildings, sewers and also maintain the municipal fleet and to do this in the most efficient manner as possible. This department will strive to continue to provide the high level of service Roseland residents expect and deserve from their Public Works Department.
