The Borough of Roseland contracts with the township of East Hanover for it's Health services. 
The mission of the Health Department is to improve the health and quality of life of the citizens of East Hanover Township and Roseland Borough through the use of health promotion strategies, health protection strategies, preventive services and community health surveillance.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: Free blood pressure screening is available to all residents every 2nd and the Wednesday at the East Hanover Municipal Building from 9:00am to 10:00am and at the Roseland Borough Hall every 3rd Friday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Screenings are conducted by our public health nursing staff and pre-registration is not required. Please call the Health Department Office at 973-888-6035 for additional information.

INFLUENZA (FLU) & PNEUMONIA VACCINATION CLINIC: Flu and Pneumonia vaccination clinics are conducted each fall. Advance registration is required 973-888-6035. The fee for residents 65 years and older with Medicare Part B only is free all other residents will be charged $20.00. A receipt will be provided to you for possible reimbursement from your own provider. It is the residents responsibility to submit for his/her own reimbursement. Please make checks payable to: Township of East Hanover. Same rates apply for residents requesting a Pneumonia Vaccine. 
SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINATION: OCTOBER 10, 2017 11 am to 1:00 pm 19 Harrison Avenue, Roseland 

CANCER SCREENINGS: Low cost cancer screenings for men and women are sponsored by the Health Department several times a year. The Men's Cancer Screening is usually offered each May and the Women's Cancer Screening in the Spring. The Health Department also offers a coupon program to receive low cost mammography at area breast clinics. FREE SKIN CANCER SCREENING: The East Hanover Health Department in conjunction with the Roseland Board of Health, is hosting a Skin Cancer Screening on Wednesday June 10, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. at the Senior Citizens Center; located at 96 Mount Pleasant Avenue, East Hanover.  The screening is for the residents of Roseland and East Hanover 18 years of age and older.

SMAC-23 BLOOD SCREENING: SMAC-23 Blood Screening is a comprehensive blood test that reports cholesterol (HDL/LDL), glucose & triglyceride levels and other blood parameters. The Blood screening is available to all East Hanover & Roseland residents age 18 and older.
Screenings are conducted twice annually. Fee for the SMAC blood screening is $21.00 and prior registration is required, additional tests are available for a fee: CRP (Homocysteine & High Sensitive Cardiac) $23.00, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) $22.00, PSA (Prostatic Specific Antigen) $2500. ROSELAND – The East Hanover Health Department and the Roseland Board of Health will conduct a Men’s Cancer Screening Program from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the Senior Citizens Center, 96 Mount Pleasant Avenue, East Hanover Township.

The emphasis at this screening is the detection of early signs of prostatic, testicular and colorectal cancer. The American Urological Association states this Screening is most appropriate for men age 50 or older, and for those under 50 who have added risk factors. Those at higher risk are men who are African-American and men who have a family history of prostate cancer.

 

There is no cost for this program. Residents interested in the program are encouraged to call the East Hanover Health Department (973) 888-6035 for more information to register.

FOOD SAFETY: The Health Department's environmental staff conduct inspections of all food establishments within the Township of East Hanover and the Borough of Roseland. These food establishments include anyone who serves food to the public, from a large grocery store to a small vending machine. Our health inspectors work closely with retail food providers to ensure that that their facilities, services and employees comply with State standards. While most of our communities food establishments are clean and safe, problems can occur. If you ever have a concern about food safety or sanitation in a local food establishment, please let us know!
